Hydraulic and Electrical TBM Spares: Keeping Metro TBMs Moving in South Asia

Metro programmes across South Asia are driving TBMs through soft, water-bearing alluvial soils where the water table sits high above the crown. In that ground, availability matters more than peak advance rate: every idle hour lets the face and surrounding ground react. Thrust-jack and segment-erector cylinders, main pumps, proportional valves, pressure and stroke sensors, and the VFDs driving cutterhead and conveyors are the items that most often decide whether a machine restarts this week or next month.

Interchangeability is where budgets are won or lost. When specifying replacements, match cylinder bore, rod diameter, stroke, mounting pattern and pressure rating; pump displacement, flange and shaft spline; valve size and coil voltage; sensor output signal, range and connector type; and VFD rating, input voltage and control protocol.
